The New Civil Code (Act No. 89/2012 Coll.) becomes effective on 1.1.2014. Members of the public as well as the experts called for the requirement for a postponement of this regulation efficiency.

As an example may be mentioned the statement of the Czech Bar Association. This urgently asked the state authorities on request of some attorneys on its congress held on 11.10.2013 at least for the postponement of the efficiency of the New Civil Code and its essential reworking, if this processed Act shall become effective. On 22.11.2013 the government of the Czech Republic declared that the efficiency of the New Civil Code cannot be postponed.

The spokeswoman of the government Jana Jabůrková noticed that “approval and implementation of the civil code are already over the critical point. If the efficiency of the civil code is postponed, the damages would be much bigger”.
