Control and Register of Visitors Entering the Company Premises

The Office for Personal Data Protection (of the Czech Republic) has given a statement regarding the control and register of visitors entering the buildings that  are not intended for regular visits of the public (office buildings, manufacturing facilities etc.).

A visitor entering these buildings can be asked to give a name of the visited person and to provide his identification data such as his first name and surname.

In case of a business meeting he can also be asked to show his service card whose number including the name of the sending company can also be registered. In case the visit is not work related, mainly an identity card or travel document can be required and their number and type can also be registered.

If other personal data were required from the visitors such as home address, it would be in breach of the act on the protection of personal data. Also making copies of all kinds of personal documents and other documents in the possession of individuals and their storage are prohibited.
